Sandra Roa is a first-generation Colombian-American born in Jackson Heights Queens when the area hosted the largest Colombian immigrant population. She has been documenting the Latino immigrant community in Queens through photography, video and written work. Her work in Jackson Heights includes stories about undocumented workers, their economic situation and the families they leave behind in Mexico.

Sandra is currently earning her MA at CUNY's School of Journalism focusing on International Reporting. She earned a BFA in Fine Arts and Theatre Dance in 2001. Currently she is a faculty member at the International Center of Photography in New York City.
